Liquid Latex. As the name indicates, such an annual event showcases Brandeis students dancing exclusively in latex paint. Last year, my roommate and couple other friends were on the dancing crew. I helped them design and paint their "costumes" and it was a lot of fun.
Campfire-themed Sherman dining hall dinner. Gobbled five S’mores and the BBQ ribs are SO YUM!
Introduction to Anthropology with Professor Sarah Lamb. This class is completely outside my major of interests but it is SUPER fun and interesting. We focused on the ways people make sense of and order their lives within a range of societies, including in Africa, Asia, the Middle East, Oceania, and the Americas (including the United States). My favorite part of the course is re-examining daily practices by Americans from an outsider’s point of view. This makes me realize that all practices done to live their life are equally valuable and not a single practice shall be considered “better” or “superior” to others.
My reasons for choosing Brandeis as a senior in high school were pretty simple: I was shy/had a social phobia at that point and Brandeis is small, meaning that I won’t get to see a bunch of strangers every day. Well, this is partially true. I now love Brandeis not because I could get to see my lovely friends very often when walking around campus, but also because all the Brandeisians are incredibly friendly and nice. They are so willing to help me with enthusiasm even if that’s literally the first time this face ever appeared in my life. Thanks to whoever initiated the talk when I was sharing a library table with him and those who grabbed my hand and dragged me into the center of the dance party during orientation, I am way more confident to chitchat around and so ready to get out of my room and see new people.
