watching the stars when I first came to the US. Coming from Hanoi, where city lights drown out the stars, seeing a clear night sky is very rare. As international students, we got to campus a bit before the official move in date of all first year students. Because of the jet lag from the 12-hour difference, me and my friends sat outside Massel Quad until 4AM, just looking up to the sky. One of us turned out to know a lot about stars, so we got a crash course in astronomy that night. We still meet up regularly after to stargaze throughout the school year and even went to Astronomy club together.
I enrolled in COSI-164A: Introduction to 3-D Animation taught by Professor Timothy Hickey. Through this class, I acquired the skills to create short 3-D animated films using Blender. As a Pixar and Ghibli studio enthusiast, this course felt like a dream come true for me because I'm learning to create what I love. My experience in COSI-164A ignited a strong passion for 3-D modeling, leading me to explore further by enrolling in two Sculpture classes taught by my favorite Professor Christopher Frost within the Studio Art department. Ultimately, my enthusiasm for this field grew to the extent that I decided to minor in Studio Art.
going to the Archery Club's Open Practice! I have a background in archery from my home country, so when I arrived at Brandeis, I was eager to continue pursuing this hobby. While I may not be a part of the official team, I regularly attend their open practices every week. It's a wonderful opportunity for me to both receive training and enjoy some quality time with friends while indulging in my passion for archery.
sledding at the Library Hill! It was scary because I never tried that before (my country doesn't have snow) but I had a really good time with my friends
