This is a hard one to answer because I have had many, but I think I will go with the first snow day of the Fall 2020 semester, October 30th 2020. I had worked in the Admissions Office that morning and my colleagues and I were excited to see the first few flakes fall. At the end of my shift, everything was covered in snow. A few friends and I dressed warmly and went on a 2-hour snow walk around campus. At the end, we all got hot cocoa from Einstein's.
the forest next to the Charles River residence halls. There is a nice little path where I can jog or walk right next to the beautiful river. I often come here when I need to relax and step away from busy campus life for a minute. The nature reminds me of my hometown and it's also a great picnic spot!
Light the Night! This event during Orientation was the moment when I felt like a Brandeisian for the first time. My entire class came together at the Light of Reason outside the Rose Art Museum and we all lit our own little candle onto which we had written dreams and hopes for our time at Brandeis. I sometimes look back at my candle and am happy to say that some of these hopes did come true during my first two years at Brandeis which is really nice to see. I am excited to see where the rest of my journey takes me!
Sociology of Mental Health and Illness with Professor Gillespie. This class was fascinating and left me with completely new perspectives on a topic I am very interested in. I especially loved how collaborative the class was. I took it during Covid and was excited that it was offered in person. The professor managed to makes us all feel connected and engaged despite the physical distance between us in the huge lecture room. I will remember this class for a long time to come for sure.
