American Healthcare with Professor Stuart Altman has so far been the best class I have taken so far. I learned so much about the healthcare system, which shifted my health perspective. It sparked my interest in the social determinants of health and advocating for change in low-income communities involving health disparities and inequality, leading to my additional major in Health: Science, Society, and Policy.
As a low-income, first-generation college student the entire college process was extremely overwhelming and difficult. I knew I wanted to come to an institution that was diverse in all aspects, but also to be apart of a community with other students who have gone through similar experiences/situations as me. I discovered the Myra Kraft Transitional Year Program and knew it was the best fit for me. I wanted to be apart of a cohort and have extra support resources with peers/mentors who have the same admiration and desire in higher education despite their life adversities.
I love anything that has to do with bettering my overall physical health and well-being. I love doing pilates and practicing meditation at Gosman or Village's hidden gym. I also love to appreciate nature and life. Most nights I will either go star or moon gazing. I enjoy photography and take photos of the moon, sky, stars, sunrises and sunsets!
In Waltham, I love going to Chillbox or I enjoy heading to Moody St to get boba at Kung Fu Tea, or to enjoy some pho at Pho 1. I also love taking late night trips into Boston to get Insomnia cookies, raising canes, or go shopping at Prudential Center or on Newbury Street.
