Amelia T.

Admissions Fellow at Brandeis University

Class of 2024

Hometown: Springfield, MA

Major: English

Secondary Major: Sociology

Minor: Asian American Pacific Islander Studies

I chose Brandeis because...

Of the small campus community.

My most memorable Brandeis experience?

The Southeast Asian Club's annual cultural show since it made me feel so seen as a Cambodian American; it also gave me a space to showcase as well as explore my roots.

My favorite Brandeis class/professor is...

Yuri Doolan! He is the chair of the Asian American Pacific Islander (AAPI) Studies department and has guided me through my journey of learning more about my identity. Professor Doolan has also taught thought provoking courses that critically analyze the AAPI diaspora. I would recommend anyone to take a course with him, or to even just have a conversation with Professor Doolan!

My favorite activity outside of class is...

to go to any of the club events hosted by the Intercultural Center! The Southeast Asian Club (SEAC) holds some great ones, including Diaspora discussions which I really enjoy since I am given space to speak with other Southeast Asians about experience and identity.

I'm passionate about...

Traveling and Exploring New Places Cooking (but mostly eating) Reading fiction and nonfiction

I'm involved with...
