I not only fell in love with Brandeis because of the people and the level of involvement on campus, but I was also offered the chance to study abroad in London my first semester.
Sociology of Disability with Professor Stephen Gulley or any class with Professor Daniel Breen. Sociology of Disability completely changed my worldview and made me challenge many of the status quos in my life and how I perceive disability. I also learned a lot about the disability rights movement and got to meet key activists from the movement like Judy Heumann, who advocated for the Americans with Disabilities Act. Daniel Breen is also a fantastic legal studies professor who is a fantastic storyteller and brings life to every case he talks about in class. He is also incredibly helpful outside of the classroom and will even bring cake to office hours sometimes.
SoulCycle or In a Pickle. I love going into Boston and Waltham via our Branvan shuttles, and I've gone with friends to these two places many times. In a Pickle is a breakfast restaurant on Moody Street, aka our restaurant row, and they have the best pancakes on Earth. They were featured on Guy Fieri's Diners, Drive-Ins, and Dives last year, which is a testament to how cool In a Pickle is.
Giving tours. I love showing prospective students and families how wonderful Brandeis is and telling them all my stories. I also love the Admissions community and how supportive and involved everyone is.
