When I began my college search, I knew I wanted a traditional college campus near a large city, specifically Boston. When I was researching colleges in the area, I came across a resource that described Brandeis students to be "quirky" and "passionate," which are two traits I consider myself to be. When I toured campus, I had the feeling that this was where I was meant to spend my college years and I decided to apply early decision. The Brandeis community really stood out to me, specifically the idea that both professors and other students will always be there to support you. After being at Brandeis for over a year, I truly can feel the sense of community and I could never imagine going to school anywhere else. Specifically, I've been mentored by the most amazing professors who genuinely care, and I've been surrounded by other students who are incredible kind and supportive.
My favorite activity when I'm outside of class is attending writers meetings for the sketch comedy club I write for, called Boris Kitchen. It's amazing to read and pitch sketches with a group of such funny, kind people. Being a part of Boris Kitchen is definitely one of the best decisions I made while being at Brandeis.
My most memorable Brandeis experience is going to Springfest my sophomore year. It was such a beautiful day outside, and I saw some amazing musical performances surrounded by all my friends. There was also a food truck that gave away free cupcakes, which I was a huge fan of!
My favorite Brandeis professor is my Italian professor, Paola Servino. Not only is she incredibly passionate about what she teaches, but she is also very caring; she's there to support me both inside and outside the classroom. At the end of one semester, she invited back my entire class (about 10 people) to her house to cook everyone a homemade Italian dinner; however, me and one other student couldn't go the night when everyone else could, so she invited just the two of us back a different night so we could have the same experience. She also came to visit me while I was studying abroad in Sorrento, Italy (and she even took me out to dinner).
