Tour Guide at Brandeis University
Class of 2024
Hometown: Woodcliff Lake, NJ
Minor: Italian Studies
My favorite Brandeis professor is my Italian professor, Paola Servino. Not only is she incredibly passionate about what she teaches, but she is also very caring; she's there to support me both inside and outside the classroom. Also, she once brought my entire class individual pizzas to celebrate the end of the semester, which was such a kind and generous gesture.
My favorite Brandeis tradition is the 24 Hour Musical, which is exactly what it sounds like: students are given 24 hours to learn and perform an entire musical. This past September, the musical was Camp Rock, and I got to support some of my friends who were in the musical. It was such a fun experience to watch the show (with expected mishaps), and it felt great to support my friends.
When I began my college search, I knew I wanted a traditional college campus near a large city, specifically Boston. When I was researching colleges in the area, I came across a resource that described Brandeis students to be "quirky" and "passionate," which are two traits I consider myself to be. When I toured campus, I had the feeling that this was where I was meant to spend my college years and I decided to apply early decision. The Brandeis community really stood out to me, specifically the idea that both professors and other students will always be there to support you. After being at Brandeis for over a year, I truly can feel the sense of community and I could never imagine going to school anywhere else.
My favorite place in Boston is Insomnia Cookies! The Brandeis-Boston shuttle is an incredible resource for when it's 11 p.m. and I'm craving a chocolate chip cookie from Insomnia, which is only a five minute walk from the Cambridge stop.
