Pho 1, a restaurant in Waltham accessible by the Brandeis shuttle service or by walking if you're in the mood for a nice stroll, is one of my favorite eateries. It's Vietnamese food, as the name suggests, and never fails to delight. I can always trust their fried rice to pull me out of a slump.
Preforming in Liquid Latex, it's such a freeing experience and exposes you to a room full of love and acceptance. The show is very unique, participants dance on stage in nothing but underwear and body paint. Everyone, from dancers to people who have never set foot on stage, is welcome in a celebration of body positivity and beauty. It is one of the most interesting, positive, and unique shows on campus and something on many peoples "Brandeis bucket-lists"
The community. The students here care about learning for the sake of learning and supporting each other while doing so. I have always loved learning for learning's sake, and not for competition's sake, and at Brandeis students care about the knowledge, and the people, not winning.
Dan Pearlman, one of the environmental science faculty, he is both a caring and extremely intelligent professor. He teaches the introductory environmental studies class, affectionately dubbed "tree class" by students, and makes it his mission not just to teach the content but to teach students how to look at the world and really see it, understand it, appreciate it. His care for his students and passion for the subject makes him a great professor.
