My favorite place in the Boston area is Porter Square. You can get there via the commuter rail, and it's a really local area of Cambridge with great shops and places to eat. I grew up going to Porter Square Books on weekends, and it's still one of my favorite places to visit. The owner of the store is so nice, and they make great chocolate muffins.
My most memorable Brandeis experience is directing my first student play the spring semester of my freshman year. I directed "Hamlet" for Hold Thy Peace and it was amazing to put together a full show from start to finish. I also formed great connections with professors who came to see the piece.
My favorite activity outside of class is working for the Brandeis Hoot! I am the Arts Editor, which means I can basically write about any media that I want, from student shows on campus to my favorite movies. I've gotten a ton of my friends to write for the paper as well, and it's such a supportive community and I've learned a lot about writing through the process. Student journalism was never on my radar before coming to college, and I'm so glad I gave it a try!
My favorite professor at Brandeis is Professor Willrich! I took both of his American Legal History classes and they inspired me to become a History major and Legal Studies minor. Professor Willrich is incredibly engaging and was so supportive of me as a freshman in an upper-level class. He also really pushed all of us to improve our research and writing skills over the course of the class!
