Summer Students 2022 at Brandeis University

Class of 2023

Hometown: Chapel Hill, NC

Major: American Studies

Minor: Journalism

My favorite Brandeis class/professor is...

Ethics in Journalism taught by Professor Eileen McNamara. In Ethics in Journalism, we looked at case studies of what not to do in journalism. From not following on sources with suspect stories, to ignoring parts of a story a journalist didn't like, to even just making up things that didn't happen, it's a crash course in the field of journalism and what to do in an ethical way.

I chose Brandeis because...

I wanted to go to a school that would allow me explore all my different academic interests and find what I was truly passionate about. In high school I had more limited class options and as such hadn't really found what I wanted to study or do after school. At Brandeis I have found an incredibly supportive and curious academic experience that was exactly what I wanted.

My favorite place on campus, in Waltham or in Boston is...

Peppinos Dosa!

My favorite Brandeis tradition is...

Light the Night at the end of New Student Orientation. At Light the Night the entire first year class gathers at the Lights of Reason, and symbolically begins their Brandeis journey together. Students are given tea lights to write their goals and dreams for their first year on, and turn them on all together as a group.

I'm passionate about...
